April 2008 Archives

My grandson, Anthony, aged 10, asked this profound question today: "Aren't there 50 states? Why are they only counting 48?".

If a ten year old can figure out that stealing the votes of millions of good Democrats is going on, and states are denied representation, that this is wrong, then why is the DNC and Obama campaign sequestering the votes of Florida and Michigan?

A ten year old knows Florida and Michigan must be counted now.  Hillary won them under the same rules as Obama lost them.  The rules were the same.  Just the results did not suit the DNC and Obama.

The irony in this presidential race is that Barack Obama has become the beacon of something different, even though his platform is based on a concept that has let Americans down time after time.  What Senator Obama is really asking Americans to do, is to hope - remain passive - for another few years.  The appeal of this young candidate is not that he offers something different at all.  The appeal of Barack Obama is that he offers something Americans are intimately familiar with - hope.

Tragically, many Americans have learned to believe that they are helpless and hope is all they can do.
